Common Issues With Allen-Bradley PLC

Although Allen-Bradley PLC’s are very reliable, there are some common issues that you may experience. These issues include “no power” indicators, green or red alarm lights, and I/O failures. While any of these issues can make a PLC temporarily unusable, the repairs are straightforward for our highly trained technicians.

Perhaps the most common sign of an issue is an alarm light. This is because a wide array of problems can cause an alarm light. A PLC controller that is showing an alarm light needs to be thoroughly inspected and tested to determine the exact issue before it can be repaired.

If you’re not sure why you’re experiencing issues with your PLC, it may be best to consult with a professional rather than troubleshoot the issue yourself. Call us today, and let us know what types of problems you’re seeing.

ISO-Certified Repairs

K+S Services offers ISO-certified PLC repairs. This means that the quality and thoroughness of our work must meet very high standards. In fact, we are so confident in our ability to perform PLC repairs that we offer a 12-month bumper-to-bumper in-service warranty. We can offer such a warranty because we use properly trained and certified technicians, rigorous testing procedures, OEM or equivalent parts, repair or replace all high failure and age sensitive components, and provide thorough documentation for it all.

Our PLC Repair Process

Our repair process starts the moment we receive your part at our facility.

We begin with photographing each item and logging it into our system. This allows us to pull up relevant information about the model and to track the item through the repair process.

Once we’ve logged the item, our technicians carefully inspect it to determine what the problem is. This allows us to plan out the repairs that are needed.

Next, our customer service representatives will contact you with a quote. We will provide a Failure Analysis Report (FAR) on evaluated items so that you understand exactly what went wrong with your item.

After you’ve received our quote, we wait to get your approval before beginning repairs. Once we receive your approval, the job will be assigned to the technician with the most relevant area of expertise. Then, our system informs our technician of the proper repair and testing procedures. We always replace not only the broken components, but any components that are likely to fail in the near future. After our technicians finish the repairs, we test the item to ensure it works properly.

Final Testing

Our system helps us identify the proper closed-loop testing system for the item. When the item has been successfully tested, one of our operations supervisors verifies that it’s working properly.

At this point, we create a repair and test report. This report specifies which repairs were carried out, and will give you the details of our testing procedures.

After testing and reporting, we’ll ship the item back to you. We ship the item according to your specific requirements. We also use anti-static bags and foam packaging materials, which ensures that the item is not damaged during transportation.
