Our team can recondition or rebuild most current or obsolete CNC machine spindles from leading manufacturers, including Kessler, Theta, Hofmann, Gros-Ite, Bryant, GMN, Makino, and Matsuura. Every technicians on our team is trained to resolve common issues, including bearing wear and failure, runout and vibration, drawbar and tool-holding problems, encoder or feedback faults, and contamination-related seal damage. 

Most projects can be completed within 14 days, but K+S Services offers expedited services, depending on part availability. In addition to standard reconditioning, K+S Services provides reverse engineering, ISO and DIN taper grinding, vibration analysis, geometric inspections, balancing, machining, and complete run-in tests.

Spindles undergo significant wear and are subjected to harsh conditions. Although spindles will eventually need replaced, premature failure can result from spindle imbalance, poor lubrication, machine overload, incorrect preload, or contamination.

Our Spindle Reconditioning Process

Superior Spindle is K+S Services’ in-house spindle repair facility with machining, motor rewinding, and feedback repair capabilities. Most repairs can be completed within 14 days, but we offer expedited timelines between 1 and 3 days based on part availability. K+S Services stocks over $5 million worth of spares in-house, but certain obsolete models may require individual components to be remanufactured. Whether your spindle needs reconditioned or entirely rebuilt, our process can be broken down in to five primary steps:

Step 1

Evaluation:

Our factory-certified technicians disassemble your spindle, chemically clean components, and inspect them for flaws and damage. Evaluations are free and performed in our Class 10,000 HEPA climate-controlled cleanroom to prevent contamination. Damaged components are photographed and documented.

Step 2

Analysis Report:

You’ll receive a Failure Analysis Report at no additional cost. This report documents what our technicians found during the assessment, any probable causes of failure and recommended solutions, a cost estimate, and a repair timeline.

Step 3

Repair:

Spindles are reconditioned to meet OEM performance specs or rebuilt based on application needs. Any damaged parts are replaced with OEM or OEM-equivalent spares.

Step 4

Diagnostics:

Spindles are recalibrated in our cleanroom, then dynamically balanced and fully tested. Our expert technicians follow the Kaizen continuous improvement program and receive ongoing education.

Step 5

Post-Repair:

You’ll receive your reconditioned or rebuilt spindle, along with a 12-month in-service warranty, maintenance recommendations, final runoff data from our testing, and a detailed report highlighting the work our technicians performed.
